About the role

The DevOps Architect role evolved from an organizational need to fully embrace cloud infrastructure in dedicated, multi-tenant, and hybrid environments. These specialists bridge the gap between software development teams and IT operations, two essential departments meant to work together.


  • specifying, documenting, and designing new DevOps processes / automations
  • establishing DevOps best practices
  • update processes and design new as needed 
  • planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions
  • automate and improve development and release processes
  • building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
  • understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
  • ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • identifying technical problems and developing software updates and 'fixes'
  • working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • solving problems relating to mission critical services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence
  • influencing and creating new designs, architectures, standards and methods for distributed systems, with a strong bias towards ‘Everything as Code’
  • engaging in capacity planning, software performance analysis and system tuning, ensuring we’re ready for Production
  • working collaboratively with all participants in software development activities and be supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments.
  • providing application support, incident management, and troubleshooting

Key Skills

  • experience with running and operating Kubernetes in production at scale
  • experience working on Linux based infrastructure
  • experience in software development and infrastructure development is a plus
  • knowledge of how to build CI/CD pipelines allowing everyday releases
  • knowledge of Git
  • ability to design scalable and highly-available architecture in the cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • coding experience in any language (eg. Java, Golang, Python, Bash)
  • experience in setting up monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana)
  • infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform, Ansible, Helm)
  • cloud-native approach 
  • knowledge of cloud and network security
  • working knowledge of various tools and open-source technologies,
  • excellent troubleshooting
